Menopause and Yoga

Until very recently I never heard a woman speak about menopause positively. I myself knew very little when I entered my own menopause ... apart from the myriad of symptoms from forgetfulness to weight gain, dry skin, mood swings, night sweats and hot flushes and the great debate as to whether or not to HRT. BUT what if we could see menopause as a rite of passage into a second spring? What if women could celebrate the end of menstruating using the peri-menopause to de-toxify their lives, minds and bodies and by post-menopause be in a place of transformation, ready and settled to begin the third stage of life, the wise woman stage? Well, I believe we can!

My primary reason for training as a yoga teacher was to be able to help women who were in the stages of menopause use yoga as a means of relief. We all know that stress is a major component in our modern lives and that we can use Yoga as a tool to combat that. However, I had no idea that there was a growing army of women yoga teachers in the UK led by the hugely talented Petra Coveney of eager to educate and support women through the menopause and this group have been developing a style of Yoga specifically formed to help relieve symptoms of menopause as well as enlighten women on how to use this time of their lives to positive effect and as a time to grow.

I am thrilled to be able to announce that I am joining this throng of Yoga teachers specialising in Yoga for Menopause and will begin advertising workshops and classes in the spring of 2021.

So, if you are just entering menopause and what to know what on earth is happening in your body or if you are right in the midst of the menopause or years into post- menopause this Yoga course will be for you.
