Chakra Balancing Yoga Classes

Since the beginning of April Tuesday and Thursday mornings have become sacrosanct to me.

These are the two mornings in the week that I run my “regular” online Yoga classes, as opposed to the Asana workshops and one to one sessions my day is currently filling with. Over the last two months the numbers in online classes have grown as people realise how convenient it is to practise in your own front room and how you still get a sense of a “class” even when the participants are spread all over the UK. I have a couple of class members from Scotland, one from the midlands, Leeds, Hertfordshire, London... the list goes on!

I run my sessions in blocks - which means that my students commit to a number of sessions during which we focus on a particular topic. Last time we looked at the Yamas and Niyamas... numbers 1&2 of Patanjali’s Eightfold Path of Yoga. This block is going to be focussed on the Chakras.

What are the Chakras? In Yogic Anatomy they talk of the seven main wheels of Energy in the subtle body. When each is in balance the body functions optimally both at a health and emotional level.

This week will be the turn of the Root Chakra - Muladhara. This chakra is concerned with our physical needs and is all about grounding, safety and security. Our asana practise this week will be focussing on grounding poses and our meditations will be around rooting, grounding and the earth. We all need a bit of this - when Muladhara is out of balance we can feel anxious, depressed, insecure, frightened. All feelings I’m sure we’ve experienced over the last 10 weeks!!!

Classes are at 11am on a Tuesday and Thursday - if you feel you’d like to join us do contact me at - The classes are currently £30 for a 6 session block. We’d love to see you there!
